Where to start

First decision: where should you start?

You do not always need to start at Step 1 — but skipping it without evidence is risky.

Quick check:

Do you have real, recent evidence about your disadvantaged learners?

  • Do you understand their barriers (time, confidence, digital skills, access)?
  • Do you know what motivates them to engage and complete?
  • Have you successfully designed for this exact group before?
  • Are engagement and completion already strong?

If you are unsure about ANY of these → start with Step 1

If you skip this step without evidence, your course may struggle — even if the content is good
