Learners do not exist separately from delivery format
For your learners, consider:
Access realities
- Do they have reliable internet and devices?
- Can they travel to a physical location?
- Do they need mobile-first or low-tech options?
Confidence & readiness
- Are they comfortable learning online?
- Do they need in-person support to get started?
Time & flexibility
- Do they need asynchronous access?
- Can they attend scheduled sessions?
These will shape your decision in Step 2
Evidence vs assumption
For each section above, note:
- Evidence (from data, feedback, experience, conversations)
- Assumption (informed guess)
If most of your snapshot is assumptions, you risk developing something that the learners will not engage with, and you should conduct more research.
